The La Rosa 520 cigar honors HVC founder Reinier Lorenzo’s childhood home — named for the street he grew up on in Havana, Cuba. The normal La Rosa 520 blend is a Nicaraguan puro comprising Aganorsa tobaccos, but this Maduro version trades the original’s Jalapa Corojo ’99 wrapper for a Mexican San Andrés Maduro leaf. Tasting notes are lingering pepper, tangy earth, dried fruit, leather, and espresso.

Being from Havana (and having named his cigar company after Havana City), HVC founder Reinier Lorenzo of course needed to commemorate the quincentennial milestone. HVC’s 500 Years Anniversary cigar is a Nicaraguan puro composed of a Corojo ’99 wrapper from Jalapa, a binder from Jalapa, and fillers from both Jalapa and Estelí — all the tobacco sourced from Aganorsa.
